I have arrived

Hola.

I have arrived in Chile. This has been quite the adventure. My original plans for getting here were thrown out the window when there was bad weather. We ended up landing in Austin before flying to Miami and then Santiago. I missed almost all of my orientation but I was at the YEP camp for a few hours. Before meeting my family! Chile has been very interesting so far. I have seen the Andes mountains, numerous stray dogs, and have unpacked and settled in my room. They food has been different, but I love that they have bread all the time. I start school tomorrow and I am getting my uniforms today. Wish me luck!

1 Day

Hola.

Hello. I have 1 day left till I leave 😱😱😱😱😱. I leave from The airport in Seattle on Friday at 10 am. After that I have a 4 hour flight to Dallas, a 2 hour layover, and then a 9 hour flight to Santiago and then a Youth Exchange Program camp in Santiago!!!

It’s crazy! I can’t believe it is actually time to leave. Right now I am just catching up on some last minute things I need to do before I leave and buying presents for my wonderful 1st host family. I actually finished packing about an hour ago, but since it’s so late I will wait till tomorrow to weigh my bag (and then inevitably switch some stuff around to get the weight down to 50 pounds).

I’m getting more and more excited. I’m am nervous but not about leaving my home. I just want to make it clear that I am soooooooo grateful for everyone involved who helped this happen. I also want to make it clear that although being an Exchange Student is a wonderful opportunity, it is not a vacation. It is going to be a lot of hard work. And to be honest I will probably get frustrated, and homesick, and even a little lonely. I am going in to this life changing experience with 1 year of high school Spanish. I am not prepared for this. But I will try my best. The next 3 months, will probably be the toughest months I have ever experienced. But I am ready.

I cannot wait to be in Chile 🇨🇱. And also thank you mom and dad for making my dreams come true. I will miss you more than you know. This time it’s not to the moon and back, it’s to chile and back. Come on, it’s only a little over 6,000 miles away. It’s not like I’m on the other side of the world or anything 😂😘🌎🗿❤️❤️❤️
